Number 21: 1965 fastback aka "Rachel"

When Mike was 10, in 1965 his uncle and godfather bought a prairie bronze 65 fastback with a 289. He fell in love that day. When his dad was looking for a mustang 2 years later he begged for getting a fastback. As his dad was not happy with the unconfortable back seat he bought a hardtop. 6 cil and 3 speed in Dynasty Green with black standard interior.

When Mike got his license he started driving the coupé. He drove it for about 4 years and then in 1974 it was stolen in front of his house in July ! He kept the keys in his pocket for 5 years hoping to spot it and drive away with it.........
Now Mike is in his upper 40s and he wanted to replace the stolen mustang many years ago. And instead of replacing the hardtop his dad bought, why not replacing it with a nice fastback ? He started looking for a perfect example. On June 13 2002 he found her in Florida. He had always preferred the standard 5 gauge instrument panel of a 66, but the 65 fastback he bought had it too, because it had a Deluxe Interior, so that was good. And the color was also good: Prairie Bronze. And the engine was the 289 !
More options on the car: automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, factory AC and console, rally-pac and styled steel wheels ! That's what they call well optioned....
Due to a old family joke related to the purchase of the hardtop by his dad, the car is  nicknamed Rachel.
The car was almost sold to a buyer in New York, but with an Atlanta DSO, it better stay in the South. Mike knows that the car was destined to be his, and he won't ever let it go !
